Who am I?
My father was a dairy farmer and market trader, so I learned the value of hard work at a young age. He said to me time and again, 'If you want to be successful, the responsibility is yours alone.'
Even when studying business administration at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, I knew that I wanted to run my own hotel one day. After I graduated, I started working as a Management Trainee, and later as a Business Controller. When my younger sister realised her dream in 2006 and completed her medical PhD, I said to myself, 'It's now or never!' I left my career at Microsoft and started coming up with ideas for my perfect hotel, which eventually coalesced into a business plan.
Finding a suitable location wasn't easy. After many disappointments, tears and a tonne of perseverance, I finally succeeded. On 31 December 2007, I received the keys to a magnificent historic building on Laan Copes van Cattenburch in The Hague. It was a pivotal moment, laying the foundation for my first hotel, the Mozaic urban villa, of which my business partner Bart Dura and I are still extremely proud.
The blend between my passion for hospitality and a love for beautiful buildings has since become the driving force behind my search for new hotels. That is how Fine Hotels & Suites came into being. I wish to pass on the histories and special stories of these places to our guests. That is what my hotels are all about.
Who IS FINE?
Fine Hotels & Suites includes the Mozaic urban villa in The Hague, the Mout urban villa in Schiedam, the Casa Julia urban villa in Delft and the Bergse Bossen country retreat in Driebergen-Rijsenburg. Our hotels offer guests comfortable, intimate surroundings. Each hotel features an inviting lounge, with unlimited coffee and tea-making facilities and delicious ‘bites.’ Feel free to help yourself whenever you like! We want our guests to feel at home.
